X-Team Goes to the End of the World

Written by Diego Seghezzo | Aug 9, 2019 4:00:00 AM

Have you ever been to the end of the world? X-Team has! This July, the X-Outpost went to Argentina. For a few weeks, X-Teamers explored this vast country, going all the way down to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. While the Northern Hemisphere was baking in heatwaves, we were freezing.

This was the X-Outpost: Argentina

Calafate and El Chalten

The X-Outpost HQ was located in the city of Calafate, in the Santa Cruz province. It's where all X-Teamers met, including Cristian, our Colombian winter lover (did I tell you that X-Teamers are special people?).

We spent a week in Calafate, working, talking, and getting to know one another. It's one of the main reasons why X-Teamers come to X-Outposts, to talk to their colleagues in person instead of over Slack.

Calafate Means Amazing Food

Calafate food is straight-up amazing. You wouldn't believe it, but all the restaurants we went to were incredible. Let me share some pics of the delicatessen we had the pleasure to enjoy.

Hot chocolate, great malbec, incredible patagonic lamb, and yerba mate, of course.

Trekking to the Laguni Capri and Fitz Roy

The X-Outposts are wonderful opportunities to explore the country you're in, but that doesn't mean we don't work. Weekdays are meant for working, weekends for exploring. This being said, we took maximum advantage of the two weekends we had.

For our first Epic adventure, we went to El Chalten, the national place for trekking. We trekked a full four hours to get to Laguni Capri, where we could see the Fitz Roy peak. Sadly, it was cloudy, but that didn't stop us a day full of beautiful views, adrenaline, and bone-shivering cold. Just have a look at these pics for an idea of the day we had.

The Perito Moreno Glacier

The next day, we decided that we couldn't leave Calafate without walking through the Perito Moreno Glacier. It's basically a huge piece of ice, and it was an experience we all enjoyed a lot. It's quite challenging to reach by foot, but the breathtaking views made up for it entirely.

Ushuaia - The End Of The World

During our second week, we flew to Ushuaia, the southernmost city of the world and otherwise known as The End of the World. Technically, it's a colder city than Calafate, but we found the cold easier to handle than the cold in Calafate. All the sights in this city are stunning, as you can see from these pics.

Les Eclaireurs is the lighthouse at the end of the world.

During our first Epic trip in Ushuaia, we decided to surf through the Beagle Channel to arrive in Les Eclaireurs, the lighthouse at the end of the world.

Snowboard day: Castor Peak

Are we snowboarders? No. But can we try it? Of course! We spent a wonderful day trying to snowboard in Cerro Castor. While none of us were very skilled at it, we had a great time together. And isn't that what's most important?

In Conclusion

We had an amazing two weeks. The food, the places, the experiences, but most of all, the incredible people. X-Teamers work together from different parts of the world, and to then meet other X-Teamers in person is the most epic experience of all. It's what makes the X-Outpost so special. See you at the next one.
